The D Majors Choir are excited to announce we are holding a black-tie fundraiser on Saturday, 30 November 2019, at Souths Newcastle, to benefit ovarian cancer research at the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
It is being held in conjunction with the group “Pink Meets Teal” to honour Jill Emberson, who is living with ovarian cancer and advocating strongly for greater awareness and greater funding.
ABC Newcastle’s Dan Cox will host the event, and the fabulous Terence Koo Trio will join the D Majors in entertaining, with special guest vocalist Isabella McGavin. Guest speaker will be HMRI researcher Associate Professor Pradeep Tanwar.
Tickets at $140 each, or $1,300 for a table of 10, include dinner, drinks and great entertainment and are available online through Souths.
There will be raffles and an auction on the night to raise as much money as possible for local researchers.
Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest and most under-funded cancers.
Each year in Australia, 1,600 women will be diagnosed and 1,000 will die.
Each day in Australia, 4 women will be diagnosed and 3 will die.
The survival rate five years after diagnosis is just 45%.
There is no early detection test.
