The undefeated Charlestown Crossfire were taken to the wire in last weekend’s Division one Charlestown Netball in very wet conditions.

Crossfire defeated Purnells 39 – 35 which leaves Purnells just outside the top four in 5th position on the ladder.

Here is what Crossfire captain coach Michelle McPherson had to say about the match, “Coming into the match we knew that Purnells could pull out a hard, strong competitive game and expected we’d need to put on a solid performance for the win, unfortunately playing netball in weather conditions like we had for Saturday’s game is never ideal, and ensured there were a lot of turnovers throughout the game that generally wouldn’t occur.”

“This meant coming into the last quarter we found ourselves down by a few goals; following an injury that forced one of our players from the court we decided to try a moving goal circle, with a full court press on defence.”

“It wasn’t our finest game of netball, but with the on court support from GK Belinda Alley we were able to regroup as a team, push hard in the last 10 minutes of the game and pull out in front to take the win.”

In the other two matches Impact defeated Misfits 42 – 26 and Watters defeated Illusion 58 – 34.

Please note that there are no games this long weekend.
