Man and woman charged with alleged drug supply

A man and a woman have been charged with drugs offences following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs in the Hunter region.

Officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Target Action Group established Strike Force Eadevale in February 2019, targeting the supply of methylamphetamine – known as ‘ice’ – in the area.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 24-year-old man at a home in Hanbury Street, Mayfield about 5.30pm Thursday.

A 28-year-old woman was located a short distance away and was also arrested.

The pair were taken to Waratah Police Station.

Officers executed a search warrant at the home, where they allegedly located methylamphetamine, other substances believed to be illicit drugs, and cash.

The man was charged with supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity of, knowingly direct activities of criminal group, deal in the proceeds of crime, drive whilst disqualified, and breach of bail.

The woman was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, knowingly participate in criminal group, deal in the proceeds of crime, drive whilst disqualified, and breach of bail.

Both appeared in Newcastle Local Court yesterday and were refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 8 July 2019.

Inquiries under Strike Force Eadevale are continuing.
