Exciting times lay ahead for Charlestown Netball Association for the 2019 season. There has been a redevelopment of 20 courts, an innovative new Mullanes Youth division and two new sponsorships.
The resurfacing of the 20 courts is a result of years of dedicated fundraising, along with a NSW Government grant. President Mrs Dianne Pascoe is thrilled to see years of hard work finally come to fruition and believes that the quality of netball played on these new courts will only continue to rise during the 2019 Winter Competition.
With the addition of the Mullanes Youth division, it is going to be fabulous to see the best of the best young netballers go around at Charlestown every Saturday.
The Mullanes Youth division, sponsored by Mullanes Plumbing is made up of 8 teams comprising of 14-17 year old girls who are looking for that extra high quality game on a Saturday.
Teams from NOVA, Souths and The Junction are coming out from Newcastle Netball Association, Lakers from Westlakes Association, Lucky’s an Independent Team along with two teams from Charlestown fill the division.
United Club President Jodie Mortimer is excited by what she has seen so far with both Charlestown teams fielding Charlestown Representative Players from three age divisions.
Along with the new courts and Mullanes Youth division, McCarrolls Automotive Group have come on board in 2019 as a major sponsor of the Charlestown Netball Association’s Representative Program.
Mc Carroll’s General Manager, Peter Spratt said this was the first time the McCarroll’s car dealership team had sponsored netball in the region and are excited to be involved in such as growing sport.
“Netball is a great women’s sport and we want to help Charlestown Netball to continue to grow to benefit more local women and girls,” Mr Spratt said.
The official opening of the courts are on Saturday 6 April, 2019 commencing at 9:45am, in attendance will be the State Member Jodie Harrison, Mayor of Lake Macquarie Kay Fraser, North Ward Councillors and Life Members of the Association.
