New watercraft for marine rescue

The muscle power of Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie has been boosted with the delivery of a $300,000 response vessel on Thursday (7th Feb)

Unit Commander Mal Wardrop received the keys to the new boat that will enhance the work carried out by the units volunteers on the waters of Lake Macquarie as well as off the regions coast.

The new state of the art water craft has all the bells and whistles that
will be used to keep the community safe on, and around, the water.

As a fitting tribute, The vessel will be named “Neil Grieves” in honour
of the Lake Macquarie Unit Commander Neil Grieves who unexpectedly
passed away last year. The Lake Macquarie volunteers will crew the
vessel with honour in the memory of Neil, Mr Wardrop added.
