Australian Idol winner, Damien Leith and ARIA-nominated band, Thirsty Merc have been confirmed as headline acts at this year’s Lake Mac Carols at Speers Point Park.

Lake Macquarie’s biggest Christmas event scheduled for Sunday, December 9, will also feature an afternoon screening of family festive movie Christmas All Over Again, live entertainment, fireworks, and an appearance by Santa.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Cultural Services, Jacqui Hemsley, said landing Leith and Thirsty Merc was a coup for the event.

“Damien is an amazing vocal talent and has vast experience with live performance,” Ms Hemsley said.

“He won Australian Idol in 2006, has released an EP of Christmas Carols and has performed at Carols in the Domain.”

Thirsty Merc have been an Aussie rock institution for more than a decade, nominated for multiple APRA and ARIA awards.

Ms Hemsley said a range of food trucks and free entertainment would be operating at the event, which commences with the noon Christmas movie screening.

“There will be live local entertainment throughout the day, before the carols start at 6.30pm,” Ms Hemsley said.

Further details will be released closer to the event.

Look out for a special guest appearance by Santa and enjoy the fireworks display from 9pm!

This year’s event is sponsored by NEWFM 105.3 and Officeworks.
