Chiara Voigt, aged 16, from Adamstown Heights was named the Face of Façon winner at a spectacular runway event at Westfield Kotara last Saturday.
The event was well attended, with 100 guests seated for the show, which included the latest spring fashions modelled by the eight Face of Façon finalists, with international model and Face of Façon ambassador, Annalise McLachlan closing the show in Tigerlily.
After the runway had concluded, the Face of Façon judges, Chic general manager, Paul Thomas and Façon editor-in-chief, Lara Lupish had the difficult job of deciding who would be named the first Face of Façon. In a twist, and after much deliberation, Paul came back on stage to announce that Chic would be signing two girls on a development contract, winner Chiara Voigt and runner-up, Madyson Thomas.
“We were so impressed with all the girls and feel that both Chiara and Madyson have a very strong commercial look that our clients are looking for at the moment. A development contract will give the girls a good introduction into the industry and us the chance to work with them to develop their skills and confidence,” Paul says.
In terms of editorial work, Lara believes both girls have a unique look that will see their careers blossom under the guidance of Chic. She agreed it was a difficult decision to select just one winner, but was impressed by Chiara throughout the competition.
“Chiara impressed me both on the runway and during her test-shoot in the studio. She really lit up the room and projected confidence and maturity beyond her years, on top of that, I love her positive attitude and humbleness, something that she will need a lot of in this industry,” Lara says.
Chiara, who has never modelled before, said she found the experience entirely positive.
“It’s been an amazing experience. I’ve learnt a lot and it’s been a great insight into the industry,” Chiara says as she looks forward to what comes next.
“I’m super excited for the photo shoot with Façon and starting the journey on becoming a model with Chic Management.”
The Face of Façon model search has been announced to run again in 2019.
