Creative and talented members of the Anglican Care Auxiliary have been preparing for the annual Art and Craft Fair to be held from Friday, October 19 to Sunday, October 21 at Anglican Care’s CA Brown Village (Booragul).
Local artists will showcase their excellent craftsmanship, along with items handmade by local artisans, and the Auxiliary, to residents, staff, family, friends and the wider community.
Many of the Auxiliary are now aged in their 70’s and 80’s (and beyond!) signifying that the 41st Annual Art and Craft Fair will feature arts, crafts and recipes of a bygone era.
The exhibition will showcase professional and amateur artist’s work from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley, including paintings, embroideries, patchwork, baby and children’s wear and beautiful, homemade cakes, sweets, pastries and jams.
The art works on exhibition will include watercolours, oils and miniatures, while the crafts range from hand crafted jewellery and embroideries to beading, cards and ceramics.
Anglican Care’s Auxiliary has played a vital role in the continued growth and expansion of Anglican Care, through their ongoing enthusiasm and support, which is fundamental for the organisation. The group has amassed in excess of $500,000 in fundraising donations over their existence; an incredible achievement.
“The talent, enthusiasm and support of the Anglican Care Auxiliary is truly a blessing to Anglican Care and has been for many years,” said Anglican Care’s Marketing Manager, Kylie Jacques.
“The challenge now is to find the next generation to replace these incredible ladies who are now celebrating 41 years of this event,” she said.
