A new series of industry breakfasts is set to help businesses and hospitality providers capitalise on Lake Macquarie’s tourism boom.

Lake Macquarie Tourism will host the first quarterly breakfast on Thursday, September 20, with tourism and business leaders sharing their vision for building the city’s status as a visitor destination.

Council Manager Cultural Services, Jacqui Hemsley said the number of visitors welcomed to Lake Macquarie each year had grown from one million in 2013 to about 1.2 million in 2017.

“These visitors  are fantastic for our economy, but there is a huge opportunity to attract a greater share of the more lucrative overnight market,” Ms Hemsley said

The inaugural Tourism Networking Breakfast will feature guest speakers from Lake Mac Tourism, DANTIA – Lake Macquarie’s economic development company and accommodation provider Macquarie 4 Star.

Topics covered will include Lake Mac’s existing marketing initiatives and events, opportunities to grow international visitation and the overall strategy and vision for tourism in Lake Macquarie.

“We want to unify the city’s vision for tourism and create a network for people involved in the industry,” Ms Hemsley said.

“Working together, we can create new opportunities and capitalise more on Lake Macquarie’s wonderful tourism potential.

“We are in a very strong position to attract a wide range of visitor markets, from families seeking a relaxed holiday to adventure tourists and caravanning grey nomads.”

Attendance is free for Lake Mac Tourism partners, and $20 for others. Tickets are available online at lm.city/tourismbreakfast.
