It’s finals time in the Charlestown A Grade Netball competition; the preliminaries are over and the top four competitors are warming up for a fair dinkum shot at a Grand Final appearance.
The 2017 runners-up Heat are the raging favourites to win the competition after taking all before them in a season of consistent performances. A year older, with another year’s experience under their belts, the Heat girls finished the 14 rounds unbeaten, and it appears nothing can stop them from taking the title.
But, pressure of a different kind arrives with the advent of finals and the second placed Watters girls, with only two losses all season, albeit to Heat, consider they are in with a chance of upsetting the frontrunners.
Heat and Watters go head to head on Saturday in the major semi-final while Crossfire and Job Done clash in the minor semi-final, the winner to go through to Saturday week’s final, the loser drops out for 2018.
Job Done, the reigning champions from 2017, finished the season on a high note last weekend by defeating Sass 69-29, a sure sign that they are not about to go away without again challenging for the title.
Round 14 Results: Job Done d Sass 69-27, Watters d Fever 58-46, Purnells d Fury 50-48, Heat d Crossfire 52-20.
Round 14 Point Score:
