A teen is in hospital and investigations are underway following a serious crash near Nelson Bay overnight.
Just before 7pm on Monday, April 30, emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Gan Gan Road, Anna Bay.
On arrival, officers located an unregistered Toyota RAV4 which had crashed into a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, a 16-year-old boy, suffered broken legs, a punctured lung and face and chest injuries.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
Police from Port Stephens/Hunter Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will speak with the driver when he is well enough.
