Australia’s Marc Leishman dropped out of the running in the prestigious US Masters today after shooting a final round 73 to end the event at 6 under par, nine shots behind the winner.
Another Aussie, Cameron Smith stormed home to finish fifth after shooting a six-under-66 in the fourth round.
American Patrick Reed held his nerve through a tense final round at the Masters, holding off a fast finishing Jordan Spieth to claim his first major.
Spieth shot a eight-under 64 in the final round to pull back within one shot of Reed, before a bogey on the final hole that also cost him second place.
Reed, who had just five tour wins to his name previously, birdied the 14th hole to move out to 15-under and remained calm through the final four holes to win at Augusta National.
Rickie Fowler was second after shooting 67 in his final round.
